Appreciate your acknowledging that the majority of people did, in fact, have a great night. Never seen so much whinging over an event that was enjoyed by such a large number of people.

vendetta – the moral is, you have to be there to enjoy, then you can ignore the media aftermath.

Setting aside the politics of the RWC – and I think DPF’s column was a balanced summation – there are three key points:
1. The first week has been great.
2. There are five weeks to go – it’ll get better.
3. Go the mighty All Blacks!

You wouldn’t be being a tad disingenuous there would you David? Everything is political, especially two months out from an election. You’d be crazy as a Labour MP not to try to make political capital out of the transport debacle. Lucky we had Len Brown to blame.
Perhaps you were being a little political yourself, by proposing a Gentleman’s agreement to keep the politics out of the RWC, whilst knowing full well that a Gentleman’s agreement is strictly a Conservative construct.

Oh my, this new setup looks like a disaster waiting to happen. I read that the wharf is only 2/3 the size of the original party central and that rather than 10,000, the area is only really suitable for around 8,000. Poor lighting, leading to crime of all sorts, no way of keeping an accurte headcount, security issues (after the 140 guards added to the train system, there are no more left!), the fencing on the wharf being inadequate and able to be toppled by a rush of as few as 100 people.
This could be a disaster.
