Billed as the world’s most expensive pen, this jaw-droppingly OTT writing instrument will set you back a cool €1,000,000 – but what’s a whopping great pile of money amongst pens? Pull this baby out on your yacht and colleagues won’t know whether to gawp in awe or grab it and scarper.

The results shown are preliminary and may change when the official
count (including special votes) is completed.

  26. Mike78 (74) Says:

Was watching one was going well. Then Petra came on. Had to change.

  27. Michael (543) Says:

    Fuck! Peters on 7%.

Did get a pamphlet stuck under the windscreen wiper today advising me not to vote National. I was parked outside Parliament on Molesworth Street, aas even authorised with an email and phone number.

  28. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

nz first kicking butt!!! Maybe a reflection of the baby boomers entering retirement age. Gold card is sweet bananas for them.

  29. Sadu (68) Says:

Finding it hard to believe FPP is so far the most popular alternative to MMP.

  30. jaba (1,689) Says:

keith locke, get off the stage

  31. hj (2,231) Says:

NZ First back? People are starting to realise National is run by real estate agents.

  32. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

woohoo, looks like my predictions could be correct….Phil Goff, PM.

  33. hj (2,231) Says:

Mana’s vote is a thumbs down for catherine Delahunty, meteria Turie, Te Clendon, Toad…. It’s a shame the decent Green candidates have to que behind Toad and Frg’s bozo’s.

  34. jaba (1,689) Says:

I’m a baby boomer wreck and hell will freeze over before I vote for peters .. hell, I have a lemon tree and the thought of andrew williams seeing it and pissing on it is a worry

  35. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

There are still enough of us alive Sadu to remember when we had an electoral system that meant you voted in the government you wanted and if they didn’t perform you tossed the bastards out next election.

No back room deals, no accommodating pieces of shit like Winston.

If you can come up with something better than FPP give me a call. :)

  36. Someone Else (140) Says:

Ha ha ha! Winston might get back in! That’ll piss off the Nats!

  37. EverlastingFire (267) Says:

WTF?!?! How is Winnie polling so high? I wasn’t expecting him to even break 5%. Old people have short memories I guess.

  38. reid (10,590) Says:

Red Herring. Relax. Winston won’t happen.

  39. hj (2,231) Says:

Talk about bias: Raucous laughter when Richard Arnold made a slip re NZ First last election starting out higher and then being able to be shown out of the election; he said “we hope to be able to do that for you again” Raucous laughter followed from TVNZ staff.

  40. hj (2,231) Says:

    Reid Syas:

Red Herring. Relax. Winston won’t happen.
    ……..
    It’s a rigged election???

  41. Other_Andy (1,605) Says:

Penny Bright at 23 votes in Epsom…..

  42. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

Initially I thought I’d hate having labour in power.

Labour winning is worse for the country as a whole, but a Labour win is better for me financially due to the nature of my business.

I put country first and still hope that national wins, but, I still win if labour win .

  43. swan (309) Says:

Banksy in front. Go you good thing.

  44. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Winston will get back in Someone Else.

That will fuck the whole country.

    Keep laughing mate.

Humour will be all you have as you get to kiss your ass goodbye. :)

Us rich pricks will of course weather the storm as you poor fucks starve to death. :)

  45. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,539) Says:

National dropped below 50% already with only 4.1% counted. Guess that dream is over already.

  46. adze (1,323) Says:

God I never thought I’d hope Banks would win an election. As far as the high NZF vote goes, I suspect tactical Labour voting is part of it.

  47. hj (2,231) Says:

NZF doesn’t have much of a party machine ..no….?

  48. Nookin (1,827) Says:

I see Goff turned up to vote in his limo. I wonder if he will miss it?

  49. labours a joke (242) Says:

The night is young…waterwoman Bright may end up being the power broker…

  50. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

I always said Banksy would get Epsom.

Penny Dull will come a close second. :)

  51. hj (2,231) Says:

national Party Exporters of the Years Finalists:

A six-day showcase in Shanghai of more than $800 million worth of premier New Zealand property is generating “serious interest” from specially invited Chinese VIPs according to the organisers, Harcourts’ franchise Cooper & Co.
    http://www.voxy.co.nz/business/harcourts039-showcase-china-generating-quotserious-interest

  52. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Goofy will get one more ride in a limo when silent T puts him on the plane back to Auckland next week. :)

  53. Someone Else (140) Says:

The simple fact is that the pollsters have been wrong all along and have been using the polls to achieve a self-fulfilling prophesy.

The reality is that National will get 45-46% and New Zealand First will squeak in above 5%. The pollsters don’t take into account people who don’t want to be polled, don’t own a home phone, live in a home, flat with others and so forth. Labour will hit 30% without a doubt and the Greens will pick up an extra MP after specials are counted.

Let’s see if Epsom Labour voters ruin Act.

  54. davidp (2,328) Says:

If NZ First stay above 5 percent, then no tree in Wellington will be safe from Andrew Williams’ piss.

  55. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

I predict your prediction is spot on Someone Else. :)

  56. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

Holy shit. Winston will make it back. 5.5-6% looking likely.
    National looking at 46%
    Labour 28-29%

the centre-right vs centre-left race is looking to be much closer than expected

    Edit:
whoops, stepping on Someone else’s toes there… sorry

  57. mike tan (236) Says:

LOL Little getting his arse handed to him….

  58. mike tan (236) Says:

It is early days, but given the past few weeks, Winnie is in. We need Banks to take Epsom, fingers crossed!

  59. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Shit Penny’s got 23 votes in Epsom.

Never realised she had such a big family. :)

  60. adze (1,323) Says:

Nat back up to 49.6% on the elections website.

  61. Rat (117) Says:

    bye bye Paula Benefit

    [DPF: 50 demerits]

    you fat bitch

  62. mike tan (236) Says:

    50% !!!!!!!!!

  63. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Winnie and Andrew Williams pissing (literally) and moaning would be worth the price of admission.

  64. ciaron (913) Says:

Shit Penny’s got 23 votes in Epsom.

and she is smokin’ the mana candidate :)

  65. davidp (2,328) Says:

    Banksy 400 ahead!

  66. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Our own Petey. The Kiwiblog Candidate has 25 votes…..YEH.

    Go Petey. :)

    November 26th, 2011 at 8:05 pm

    bye bye Paula Benefit

    you fat bitch

You just wait till DPF gets hold of you prick.

I got banned last election for making a comment about a commentator, so he should be stringing your balls VERY high.

  68. Someone Else (140) Says:

OK everyone, go and have a look at the Epsom results: http://www.electionresults.org.nz/electorate-12.html

The dumbass journo/commentators have picked up on the number of Green and Labour party voters who haven’t voted for their candidates. Gee, I wonder who they are voting for? ;)

  69. Steve (2,423) Says:

TV3 bullshit in the adbreak. Campbell/Key interview is real sad. When will they give up the nastyness?
You are such a sad man Campbell

  70. reid (10,590) Says:

Did anyone else just see TV3 broadcast a blatant political ad just now?

Edit: Glad I wasn’t dreaming Steve. That is shocking.

  71. trout (671) Says:

Wilkinson ahead of Cosgrove – may it continue.
And of course Banks will take Epsom – the pollsters (and the wishful thinkers) never get this one right.

  72. 3-coil (1,097) Says:

TV3 John Campbell’s mock “John Key” interview has to be the most piss-weak try-hard shite attempt at “comedy” that has ever been broadcast.

  73. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Check the gap between Campbells eyes Steve.

My old Mum told me never to trust anyone whose eyes were too close together! :)

  74. labours a joke (242) Says:

    Maa-Maa-Maa Matt Mc..you’re a fa-fa-fa fuckwit..

  75. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

He really is a funny looking little prick.

  76. hj (2,231) Says:

NZF ahead of Greens in Catherine Delahuntys Coromandel electorate.

  77. Put it away (2,833) Says:

Water woman made double digits! 23 votes. whodathunkit…

  78. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

hard to tell if the Coromandel voters have lost their marbles from pot or alzheimers then hj. :)

  79. Dick (72) Says:

Coddington is right. ACT has turned into National’s lapdog and its members ought to be ashamed of accepting that conservative fuckwit Banks.

  80. Lindsay Addie (1,003) Says:

    Nats over 50% again

  81. adze (1,323) Says:

    Nats 50.2% now

Maybe the previous pattern alluded to won’t apply tonight?

  82. Put it away (2,833) Says:

WTF with winston first? Are they counting rest home votes first?

  83. EverlastingFire (267) Says:

Living up to your name there Dick ol’ boy. If ACT needs to do anything, it’s to get rid of that Libertarian influence.

  84. XChequer (339) Says:

Good call Codds. Act are tight up there with NZCP.

Perhaps Colin Craig will roll Don for the leadership.

  85. Rat (117) Says:

    Andrew Williams getting

excuse, me, but that is fucking hilarious

  86. trout (671) Says:

Massive party vote for National in Wigram – a good send off for Jim.
re Winston , they do count the rest homes first (advance votes – can be counted before election day).

  87. slightlyrighty (2,146) Says:

Parata ahead of Fa’afoi in Mana…..

    Yeehah!

  88. hj (2,231) Says:

    The Green Party bulldozes forward:

At the 2002 Green Party conference Turei put a remit forward calling for the Greens to endorse the “Maori” version of the Treaty Of Waitangi.

Not too many years ago the Green Party decided one of its members was ineligible for selection as a candidate because his views on the Treaty of Waitangi were unacceptable.
    http://bowalleyroad.blogspot.com/2010/04/dangerous-preaching.html

  89. jaba (1,689) Says:

we all know tv3 and Campbell are lefties BUT those so-called jokes about Key are disgusting

  90. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Never realised till tonight how much David Parker resembles John Denver.

    Wonder if he can sing?

Might need a new job soon. :)

  91. XChequer (339) Says:

I hope he can fly as well as John as well

  92. XChequer (339) Says:

    Too much?

  93. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Looks like Monsieur Pompadour will squeak in in Ohariu. :)

  94. Michaels (1,299) Says:

The thought of Winnie getting 8 seats, even though early is scaring the shit out of me

  95. mike tan (236) Says:

Everlasting Fire, can you please expand on your comment “ACT need to get rid of their libertarian perspective”?

A simple one liner doesn’t do much for you, or your position (whatever it is)

Can you expand on why you believe we need a government, with people with guns at their disposal, to take care of us (dictate how we live our lives)?

  96. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Would be nice to watch Campbell and Garner eat crow tonight. They probably got Winston First into parliament though, so they won’t.

  97. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

But we need an honest man in Parliament Michaels surely. :)

  98. Michaels (1,299) Says:

Little Andrew aint looking to flash

  99. mike tan (236) Says:

In further reference to Everlasting Fires comment, i would like to emphasize to readers that this person is spouting a populist tone “ACT needs to get rid of X principle”. He or she is basically stating that they are supportive of parties selling out on their founding principle(s) to attract votes (power). An own goal if i ever saw one.

  100. Paul10(1) Says:

How much do Act need for two seats?

  101. meh (72) Says:

johnboy, if all those greenies / lefties they have interviewed on tv1 can strategically vote for goldsmith in epsom then us in Ohariu can do the same for dunny…. :D

  102. 3-coil (1,097) Says:

It does seem years since we saw Linda Clark on TV3 (maybe it was pre-HD tv)…or has that beak of hers really really grown??

  103. wat dabney (1,416) Says:

ACT need to get rid of their libertarian perspective

And quite clearly on these results the Maori Party needs to ditch its Maori-centrism.

  104. Paul1 (30) Says:

How much do Act need for two seats?

  105. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Dunny’s a good bloke meh and don’t forget he may get the KB candidate into power on his coat tails. :)

  106. meh (72) Says:

    Paul1 I think it’s 1.2% with an electorate seat???

  107. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

“How much do Act need for two seats?”

Twenty million dollars and a couple of Churches Paul1! :)

  108. Someone Else (140) Says:

They’re a little slow counting the Epsom votes. For the smallest electorate in the country one would have thought that Epsom results would come in first.

  109. meh (72) Says:

no doubt johnboy, he has a few policies I do agree with an by all counts he’s a good local candidate (we are only new to the electorate) so as a national supporter it wasn’t too hard to vote for him!

  110. XChequer (339) Says:

    Jac Adern – Sooo fine

  111. Put it away (2,833) Says:

John Hatfield prattling on about supporting the “occupy” loons, without a trace of awareness of the irony of someone with 1% of the vote railing against “the 1%”…

  112. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Good choice meh. National needs all the help it can get by the look of it so far and Dunne’s been a good friend to National.

  113. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

    The 0.9%, PIA :D

  114. Michaels (1,299) Says:

    XChequer (262) Says:
    November 26th, 2011 at 8:56 pm

    Jac Adern – Sooo fine

    SICK SICK SICK

  115. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Penny Dull is up to 28 votes in Epsom.

Banksy will be shitting himself! :)

  116. Nookin (1,827) Says:

They are all her suitors, Johnboy. I’d get up there pdq if you want that barbed wire.

  117. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Prog journalists crying their eyes out on Twitter. Excellent.

I hope Key sells MediaWorks to News Corp and Rupert Murdoch rips it to shreds.

  118. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

I suspect the glory of her almost victory will forever turn her affections away from a simple sheepherder such as myself Nookin.

    Shit happens. :)

  119. Dazzaman (884) Says:

Good margin in Otaki for Nathan Guy, like that…..always a fairly close run seat in the last few elections.

Jacinda is fine Michaels! Superb teeth…….hah.

  120. 3-coil (1,097) Says:

She wins (by a long nose) over Nikki Kaye..but not on the electorate vote scoresheet

  121. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

I like Jacinda she reminds me of my favourite small show hack.

    Wonder if she likes apples?

  122. Nookin (1,827) Says:

Paula making a home straight burst

  123. wat dabney (1,416) Says:

Isn’t it fascinating how people like to see themselves.

    From the Herald’s rolling coverage:

‘To loud cheers, actor Robyn Malcolm the MC at tonight’s party, has just announced that on votes counted so far, the Greens will have five new MPs…Mt Roskill candidate Julie Anne Genter is “a gnat’s breath” away, Ms Malcolm said.”Not bad for a bunch of hippies, eh?” she told the crowd’

    No love, you’re not hippies. You’re a well-organised, well-funded group of intolerant neo-fascists.

  124. BlueGriffon (176) Says:

Winnies tactic of staying on opposition benches is probably what has got him across the line. People like his drama but don’t want him in government so a very good ploy on his part. It also gives the anti-all-politicians a protest vote.

Why people would believe him though I have no idea.

  125. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Looking like nine seats for Winston.

The haters and the wreckers are running rampant this election. :)

  126. EverlastingFire (267) Says:

Mike Tan – I guess Objectivist would have been a better word. I support ACT on the simple basis that I agree with them more (not entirely) than other parties. I’m not sure how you got the idea that I support the government “dictating” to us in any way. Maybe you think that’s what Conservatives want to do.

  127. XChequer (339) Says:

Wonder if Phil Gap has “shot the” yet?

  128. Someone Else (140) Says:

I think that Epsom is taking so long to count due to the amount of split voting. Compare this with how quickly the South Auckland votes have been counted – they usually take the longest time to count!

  129. meh (72) Says:

some slim leads out there, waimakariri down to 59!!

  130. wat dabney (1,416) Says:

Of course, as we know, Winston’s candidacy is liable to legal challange.

Plus he’s got a face like a scrotum.

  131. reid (10,590) Says:

Winston’s making his victory speech right now. He probably wants to do a blinder so he’s getting rid of the press now.

Let’s hope they discover the NZF ballots were just full of chads, or something.

  132. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Poor old Goofy. Sad to see staunch Labour supporters giving their vote to Winston First in a forlorn hope to stop JK.

The best bit about it all is that it was all in vain and Winnie will be a waste of space in parliament just like he was before. :)

  133. Michaels (1,299) Says:

Scary part is Piss Williams is in with him.
Good luck to the Green Parrot.

  134. adze (1,323) Says:

    lol wat

  135. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,539) Says:

This election feels a bit boring compared to 2008.

Just waiting to see how badly mauled Labour is so the gloating proper can start.

  136. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

On another front, 44,913 people wasted their vote.

  137. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Pete Georges boss is in YEH!!!!!

Chucky’s been tossed out of the closet. YEHHHHHH!!!!! :)

  138. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

You have to suspect that the dumb Labour bastards realising their man was a loser have got in behind Winnie in an attempt to fuck JK and the plan has failed.

    Fuckwits!!!! :)

  139. reid (10,590) Says:

So Johnathon Young has thrashed Little. Well done Johnathon.

New Plymouth 97.8% counted 4,109 maj to Young.

  140. meh (72) Says:

tremain takes napier by a good margin with 100% counted. 1 down :)

  141. Someone Else (140) Says:

I will come out and make the prediction that:

    1. The Maori Party will ensure that Mighty River is sold to Waikato iwi; and
    2. As a halfway house deal, the other SOEs will be sold to the NZ Superfund.

These two factors will secure National a third term.

  142. wat dabney (1,416) Says:

So, which colleague is going to hand the revolver to the wretched Goff?

What? Lies, spin and cynical promises of bribes for your special-interest groups didn’t do it for you Phil? Good. Fuck off.

  143. Nookin (1,827) Says:

Little is stuffed. Wonder if his mum voted for him?

  144. davidp (2,328) Says:

You have to call this one for National-ACT-Dunne. And I’m quite enjoying the fact that NZ First are back in. We’ll have three years of Peters and the rest of his freak show competing with Labour and the Greens for media time, funding, and votes. And scaring voters.

  145. Lindsay Addie (1,003) Says:

Rodney Hide is great on TV3.

  146. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

The best part of the whole election is that the dumb Labour losers that voted for Winnie have shot themselves in the foot and got a turd back into parliament that will be of absolutely no use to them at all apart from helping them to bleat louder! :)

  147. Nookin (1,827) Says:

Paula has run out of breath.

  148. XChequer (339) Says:

    Good call, Someone Else.

Wouldn’t mind putting a fiver on that myself.

  149. Lindsay Addie (1,003) Says:

That party vote for National in Wigram is really something. Jimbo must be crapping himself.

  150. wat dabney (1,416) Says:

Shaping up to be the expected miserable night for the right.

The leftist Labour/National two-headed monster has monopolised nearly all the votes, and the rump of ACT includes the vile Banks thanks to Brash’s political tin ear.

Brash is one of the few politicians people worthy of respect, but jesus

  151. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

    Banksie’s in.

Eat your heart out Penny Dull. :)

  152. XChequer (339) Says:

Straight into his adult daiper, Lindsay

  153. Nostalgia-NZ (928) Says:

One of JK’s prime intentions was to keep Peters out.
    He’s failed to do that.
The new Parliament as it stands at the moment provides more social change because of the Maori Party, not quite the intended design I’m sure. How to be the National party without being the National party, the identity crisis continues while MMP prevails.

  154. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Center Right for the next three years. Haters and wreckers…….fuck off. :):)

  155. Michaels (1,299) Says:

I just feel sick even though National seem to form government easily

  156. Put it away (2,833) Says:

Some hideous shirts at watermelon HQ

  157. Someone Else (140) Says:

I bet Labour will be thinking, “Who was the bright spark that thought putting a poofta lawyer against a common sense family man was a good idea?”

  158. Nookin (1,827) Says:

“One of JK’s prime intentions was to keep Peters out.
    He’s failed to do that.”

Winston stands for nothing. He ran a negative campaign and said he is going into parliament to be negative. He got there because of perverse MSM manipulation. I hope that 7% will be proud of him over the next three years. I also wonder if he and goff have been talking.

  159. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Who is going to be first to say. “We won you lost, eat that”. :)

  160. meh (72) Says:

how the hell have 92 people voted for that dullard penny?! Not the best result overall for national with support dipping but still as johnboy says centre-right is all over it for the next 3 years :D

  161. reid (10,590) Says:

How come people are happy the Gweens have >10%?

I mean, on the: Is the country completely fucked yes or no barameter – you couldn’t have a clearer contra-indicator.

    Imagine.

13-14 Gweens in Parliament. What tremendous value-add.

And big fucking surprise, Banks takes Epsom.

  162. Put it away (2,833) Says:

Nice to the see the greens’ noxious exotic species have his speech cut off for Banks!

  163. Michaels (1,299) Says:

the party vote for National though is HUGE…. FPP… PLEASE

  164. XChequer (339) Says:

    “Our Country”, Wussell?

    Weally?

  165. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,539) Says:

What an Aussie accent on Russel Norman. Why doesn’t New Zealand just join the Australian Federation already?

  166. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

A win is a fuckin win meh. :)

Shit that Penny has a big family! :)

Glad I never got hitched to her, probably would have had to feed the lot of them! :)

  167. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Strategically speaking, this was rubbish. Whole chunk of centre-right votes wasted, ACT is a rump, a few high-profile Nats got turfed out, Maori Party’s lost a seat. National has nowhere to go in terms of coalitions. Meanwhile, Greens, Winston First and the always elegant John Hatfield are back in style. It sets the prog block up well for 2014. Twyford’s won in Te Atatu and he’s gonna be important in carving out new policy.

Wussell, Tooway and that actor woman beaming. Harrumph.

  169. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

i wonder, is there a place for a ‘right leaning’ green party.

Many green voters hate greens left wing agendas… how about a green party that also likes business.

  170. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Funny how Aussie banks are a pack of arseholes that rip us off but whining little Aussie commos are OK to look after Godzone. :)

  171. XChequer (339) Says:

    hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaha

    Thats clever

  172. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Be careful nasska. You know what happened to Gaddafi’s lad! :)

  173. Morgy (28) Says:

Didn’t Garner call Waitakere for Sepuloni about 15 minutes ago?

  174. Michaels (1,299) Says:

    Paula in

  175. expat (3,702) Says:

Garner couldn’t balance a Chq book let alone add or subtract on the fly.

  176. XChequer (339) Says:

Check out Chch Central. Wow. 4 vote difference

  177. Dazzaman (884) Says:

The brutha’s have gone back to the Labour plantation to some degree…..disappointing. Nevertheless, not a Maori Party collapse though some obvious dissatisfaction with the direction of the government overall.

  178. Someone Else (140) Says:

Shit, I think that National may only get 58-59 MPs! Those South Auckland electorates are taking their time to get counted (as expected).

  179. Nostalgia-NZ (928) Says:

John got found out on this result.

  180. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Worst news of the night is that Mojo might not make it on the greenie list.

I was looking forward to the translation not just being made in Murri but also in English sign language and Murri sign language as well. :)

  181. The Scorned (249) Says:

Banks made it…. damn….goodbye ACT…you are Nat bitches now. New liberal party needed asap.

  182. Michaels (1,299) Says:

    BRADFORD, Sue MANA 175

    LOL She got the support!!!!!

  183. adze (1,323) Says:

    Septicrony is out… good job

    Pity about Katene and Groser.

  184. adze (1,323) Says:

And cheer up guys, no Annette Sykes, Bradford or Minto!

  185. Michaels (1,299) Says:

    True dat adze

  186. slightlyrighty (2,146) Says:

CHCH Central looks interesting. Labour candidate ahead….by 4 votes,,,,96.7% counted….

  187. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Wait, Bennett made it back in? Eat that, Garner, you fat useless turd!

Key, sell MediaWorks to News Corp. Murdoch, rip it up!

  188. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Poor old Don Can’t see John and called him John Brash.

    What a tit.

  189. meh (72) Says:

Adze, that’s almost the best news of the night!

  190. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

Maybe I’ve had too much to drink… but did I just see Don Brash claiming victory………

  191. Someone Else (140) Says:

My third prediction for the night:

John Banks will be the next Local Government Minister to do National’s dirty work by merging the Wellington and Canterbury councils to weaken Labour’s last remaining strongholds.

  192. Dazzaman (884) Says:

Don “decrepit” Brash…….every inch the creaking old man he is. Someone said it above, Act are Nationals bitches…heh.

  193. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

The worst sight of the night was poor old Deborah. :)

Her QC loves her though! :)

  194. Say Goodbye to Hollywood (511) Says:

Dear Don, you fucked the Act party. Idiot.

  195. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

    brash resigns

  196. Shunda barunda (2,079) Says:

NZ first – the party for piss drinking old bar rats and grouchy old bastards!!

    The percentage is about right……..

  197. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

Rodney Hide must feel great right now.

  198. adze (1,323) Says:

Brendan Burns’ majority just tripled to 12 :)

  199. reid (10,590) Says:

See? I told you Winston wanted to do a blinder. Right now, Andrew Williams is filling for him on his biggest surprise win ever. Where is Winston?

Not that I really care. But good news. You and I are now paying for Andrew and others – isn’t that good news.

  200. Shunda barunda (2,079) Says:

I think Don Brash votes NZ first.

  201. mike tan (236) Says:

    brash resigns

  202. Dick (72) Says:

A fucking disappointment for ACT. It’s now become the Banks party.

  203. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

I’d like to say that Don Brash will be missed.

    But I’m not a liar. :)

  204. swan (309) Says:

Does NZ First actually have any policies? I read one every word on one of their brochures and didn’t learn of any. I cant understand what people are voting for. That cheeky smile? The little handkerchief?

  205. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Goofy has the jungle drums beating for him.

I suspect he shall be eaten shortly. :)

  206. Nostalgia-NZ (928) Says:

JK hasn’t got a Government yet, and if he does the conditions of it will rely on more socialist parties. Very interesting.

  207. RRM (4,597) Says:

    ACT:
Marginally more popular than the conglomeration of Hone Harawira, John Minto & Sue Bradford.

    But only marginally! :-)

  208. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

13 Green MPs for the sympathetic MSM to run to when they need an appropriate soundbite.

  209. Kimble (3,148) Says:

ACT is finished with Banks in the drivers seat.

It will become a conservative party not a liberal one.

  210. swan (309) Says:

They havent even talked about Colin Craig who managed to get the 5th largest vote share. You have to say hes done pretty well. I wonder how much ACT support he took.

  211. Someone Else (140) Says:

That guy who is introducing Phil Goff is positioning himself for the by-election! ;)

  212. aitkenmike (66) Says:

Hilarious that the most conservative national MP is now the leader of the ACT party!

  213. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

NZ First has never had any policies swan.

Why would you let policy stand between a fuckwit and the fuckwit’s who vote for him?

Besides most of his supporters are old or stupid, no point in confusing them with policy. :)

  214. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

i wonder, if Phil Goff could represent NZ in trade negotiations again? He was great at that.

  215. Shunda barunda (2,079) Says:

They’re congratulating Phil Goof, it seems all they wanted was Mt Ratkill, so 100% successful.

    Well done Labour!!

Oh my goodness, he’s thanking NZ now……….

    Oh dear….Ima be sick now…….

  216. Grizz (360) Says:

I suspect National will drop a seat before the final results are in. There will need to be a lot of speaker votes I would think.

  217. Grizz (360) Says:

He’s Thanked Southern Maori for possibly pulling the election out from underneath him.

  218. MikeMan (150) Says:

    Nostaliga-NZ

The same coalition that came together in 2008 makes 65 seats in 2011, that is a majority of 9!

  219. Nookin (1,827) Says:

“Key, sell MediaWorks to News Corp. Murdoch, rip it up!”

Don’t think he owns it. But I wouldn’t give them much more credit on the licence fees, though

  220. EverlastingFire (267) Says:

ACT should just disband after this term. Let Conservative and National fight it out for the votes of right leaning people.

  221. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Labour has taken us forward for 95 years till I got the job said Phil. :)

  222. Michaels (1,299) Says:

cun[t]illife in Mt Roskill ready to take over

  223. Shunda barunda (2,079) Says:

Oh my goodness, Goofy just thanked Damien O’Connor for winning back the West Coast, you know Damien, the guy that has such contempt for party leadership that he removed himself from the list.

Guess who’s gonna have a shit eating grin beaming across his face next time he’s in Wellington……

    Gaggle of what??

  224. slightlyrighty (2,146) Says:

    Phil Concedes…..

  225. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

He doesn’t, but considering the government bailed them a few months back it’ll probably give the government some leverage as to who ends up owning it.

Wow, I just wrote that. Heh.

  226. Say Goodbye to Hollywood (511) Says:

ffs, Phil has just started campaigning again.

  227. reid (10,590) Says:

Phil will fight and fight and fight again to keep our assets.

    Yawn…

  228. Dazzaman (884) Says:

Gosh, lacklustre night……nothing like last time where we saw the death of the wicked witch.

Phil’s a reasonably decent bloke but a bit of a cardboard cutout, …..that young MC has more charisma. It does help.

Gracious concession….Klark’s bitter rant last time around still stands out in my mind.

  229. slightlyrighty (2,146) Says:

    Not resigning though?

  230. XChequer (339) Says:

Now thats fuckin interesting. No resignation

  231. swan (309) Says:

    EverlastingFire,

I think most ACT voters are liberal – thats what it was about. Those of us right-liberals see the political spectrum in two dimensions not one.

  232. XChequer (339) Says:

    Hes doing a Graham Henry

  233. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

They will all be sold before Phil’s mob gets back again reid.

  240. meh (72) Says:

  241. Michaels (1,299) Says:

I for many years admired Don Brash but not in parliament…. This is sad for ACT

  245. Nookin (1,827) Says:

lol Christchurch Central. That takes skill.

Also, is there anything funnier than a Gweenie calling themselves smart?

  252. XChequer (339) Says:

Nicky W deserves to win Chch Central. Very hard working as opposed to Burns who is just a show pony looking for another photo op!

  253. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

    Parliamentary services are on overtime.

More urinals to be installed before Andrew Williams takes his seat. :)

  254. reid (10,590) Says:

53.8% want to keep MMP. FFS.

    FFS.

    FFS.

    Fuck fuckity fuck fuck it.

    It’s not fair.

  255. Inky_the_Red (587) Says:

120 ranked seat is held by National, closest to pick up is NZ First. Specials are likely to take off National I expect Greens will pick it up

  256. BlueGriffon (176) Says:

Only a 65% turnout. Did Labourites stay home?

  257. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,539) Says:

Turnout is awesome. Soon New Zealand will have USA levels of Turnout.

  258. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

CHCH Central specials are going to be very different this year though… can we truly predict them?

“Also, is there anything funnier than a Gweenie calling themselves smart?”
The fact you think putting a ‘w’ in Green is funny?

  259. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Fuckwits reid. Fuckity fuckity fuckity fuckity fuckin fuckwits is all I can say. :)

  260. Pharmachick (192) Says:

Sorry, I’m officially throwing my toys out of the cot …

    1) SFW if Dunne and Wanksy got in … National is down around 48%

    2) John Banks got elected, in Epsom … really? Wow, who knew that NZ’s most intelligent electorate could also be so expedient … now, how long until we have a “resignation” and/or firing so that Epsom voters are represented properly (by-election ?) ??

    3) How the hell does Winston keep doing this? 6.8 % ? Seriously? WTF NZ??????

  261. JamesS (352) Says:

We won!! a second term for the National party I am so delighted!!!

Interesting result in Christchurch Central; I guess we need to do what we did in Hunua in ’78 and get a supportive Judge “who knows what is expected of him” to do a recount (disallowing Labour votes) and get Nicky elected.

Delighted at the demise of Cosgrove and others in Labour; about time, too.

  262. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

“Only a 65% turnout. Did Labourites stay home?”

looking at the polls versus the result, the stay-homers might have been evenly spread…… some comfortable National voters might have been part of that?

  263. adze (1,323) Says:

Pharmachick, 6.8% represents the “fuck you” vote.

  264. wreck1080 (2,199) Says:

i gratefully concede that I was wrong about the result . But, jeez, it was close.

National can only rely on act/dunne — giving them 62 seats.

Assuming the maoris preferred partner is labour but they will bed-up with anyone who furthers their cause.

    Couldn’t have been closer.

  265. meh (72) Says:

I concur, fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuckit! Mmp needs to go.

  266. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Fuckity fuckity fuckity fuckwits Pharmachick! :)

  267. Michaels (1,299) Says:

2014 is time for most of us to leave the country I think.

    No more Maori leaders.
    No more silver headed man.

    JK will call it quits.

Can’t see a new leader in National as Joyce wont take it.

    OH FUCK!!

  268. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Anyway. To hell with the election.

I guess we will have to get a license off the Murri to catch a fish or a Paua now!

    Coalition formation requires concessions!

    Fuckity fuckity fuckity fuck. :)

  269. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

    Bronagh’s got nice legs! :)

  270. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

So who has drunk the most tonight?
    Im betting on Johnboy.
Ive only done one bottle of wine and a two beers.
    What’s your tally?

  271. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

    Bronagh’s got nice legs eh
    Edit:
    Dammit John! :-)

  272. EverlastingFire (267) Says:

It’ll be interesting to see how much JK is willing to sell out NZ to the 1% bro party this time.

  273. adze (1,323) Says:

1 bottle of cultural pretence SSASTTL :)

  274. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

“It’ll be interesting to see how much JK is willing to sell out NZ to the 1% bro party this time.”
    he doesnt need to

  275. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

I only drink Scotch and Gin Shriveled.

Never mix the vine and the hop.

That’s why I can still spell better than you. :)

  276. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Her legs are pretty good eh? :)

  277. Lindsay Addie (1,003) Says:

My electorate is a tie (Chch Central)!!

  278. Inky_the_Red (587) Says:

When is someone going to tell TV3 the majority needed is 61 not 62? The overhang is only 1 where as they have assumed 2

  279. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

    Gin…. yuck
    rips the taste off everything

ran out of beer.. had to open the wine
really should have checked the beer supply :-(

  280. reid (10,590) Says:

One sad thing is Annette Sykes isn’t entering Parliament. That’s a shame.

  281. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Pita is looking very Kamatua like.

  282. MikeMan (150) Says:

    LOL Reid

Paula by 349 in Waitakere, so that will come down to special votes.

  283. Someone Else (140) Says:

Ooooohh, National just dropped below 48%. They are close to dropping down to 59 MPs! Told you so.

    What a shocking turnout. 65%!

  284. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

“Her legs are pretty good eh?”
looked good.. but some douche kept getting in the way of the view

  285. oranjemakker (60) Says:

TV One keeps referring to Maori Party as “King Makers”, what the hell is that about (they just did so again 2 minute ago)? Am I missing something. By my maths, 61 seats needed for majority so National plus Dunne and Banks = 62 seats, so majority. Or do I have this wrong?

  286. Shunda barunda (2,079) Says:

John Keys wife has a quite substantial bustississ!

  287. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Try Bombay Sapphire with tonic and a touch of fresh lime juice Shrivelled.

If you can’t drink the Scotch try for solidarity with the oppressed Irish folks and go for a drop of the Jamesons with whatever you fancy. :)

  288. adze (1,323) Says:

Still shows as 48.0% on the elections site, Someone Else, where are you getting your figure from?

  289. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Well Shunda all I can say is that she is a far better looking leaders Spouse than the last one’s was! :)

  290. reid (10,590) Says:

I’m serious Mike. The only reason Hone is the most articulate anti-capitalist out of the whole lefty cabal is cause of her. She is value, in terms of putting up the essence of their arguments.

  291. Someone Else (140) Says:

    47.99% is not 48% adze! ;)
    (Still 0.1% to be counted)

  292. Pharmachick (192) Says:

To finish my adult tanty for the evening…

Its bloody sad, and somewhat pathetic, that only 65% of Kiwis got off their arses and voted. Wow, NZers just don’t give a sh*t any more do they?

And as to everyone that says NZ First vote is FU or anything else… sure, fine .. yep … good luck then.

These election results are an illustrative point for why intelligent and/or educated and/or EMPLOYED Kiwis move/live/stay overseas…

  293. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

“The only reason Hone is the most articulate anti-capitalist out of the whole lefty cabal is cause of her.”
Did you see the election Q+A? where Hone said we need to pull troops out of Vietnam….. almost pissed myself

  294. Hurf Durf (2,855) Says:

At least the Greens will be back down to 5-6 list MPs when the Labour lot return to base in the next election. Even that number is too generous for them.

  295. RandySavage (96) Says:

wow this thread ended up going south. Johnboy youre a disgrace

  296. Michael (543) Says:

Labour won the Party Vote in the Seven Maori Seats, plus Dunedin North, Mangere, Manukau East, Manurewa, Mt Albert, Mt and Roskill. Every seat in South Island bar one, every North Island seat outside of South Auckland.

  297. oranjemakker (60) Says:

Is there any way that national could lose two seats in specials i.e the loony cabal come into government? Or is this now a “Dunne” deal?

  298. BlueGriffon (176) Says:

    Bronagh is just gorgeous!

  299. reid (10,590) Says:

At least the Greens will be back down to 5-6 list MPs when the Labour lot return to base in the next election. Even that number is too generous for them.

The next Parliament’s opposition is going to be comedic Hurf, that’s for sure.

  300. adze (1,323) Says:

    Someone Else, 27.1% + 0.1% doesn’t equal 30% either ;)

  301. s.russell (1,137) Says:

Look at the turnout data for individual electorates. It is UP in the biggest Labour seats, and DOWN in the safe Nat seats. Ergo: told by the media that the election was in the bag, Nat supporters stayed home. That is why the result is so close.

  302. JamesS (352) Says:

Mr Key’s speech was just wonderful; nice to see the good, decent, salt of the earth folk at Skycity. Very reassuring to see lots of beautiful white people in one place – quite a contrast to the grey, malcontented, misanthropic, angry Labour people

  303. Michael (543) Says:

Just remember 220,000 Special Votes to be counted.

  304. XChequer (339) Says:

    JamesS

How long have you been the misogynistic racsist you pretend to be here?

  305. Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left (659) Says:

“Very reassuring to see lots of beautiful white people in one place”
    is this guy serious?

  306. alex Masterley (950) Says:

    Chivas Regal time!

  307. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Sorry Randy. You are right. I am a disgrace.

I will search my soul deep down and see if I can find a reason to like Peter as much as I like Bronagh. :)

  308. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Flashing your wealth again I see Masterley! :)

  309. Someone Else (140) Says:

We’re just waiting on a couple of booths in the Waikato then the election is 100% counted before specials are then counted.

  310. Fox (78) Says:

55000 votes for the Conservative Party…..not bad.
I wonder how many of those were sniped off National.

  311. Put it away (2,833) Says:

Don’t know why people think a low turnout is bad. It basically means that people too dim, lazy, or ignorant to realise the importance of voting stayed away, and let the brighter ones make the decision. That doesn’t explain Peters though….

  312. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Seems like the best looking babe won the battle in AC ! :)

  313. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

The zombies rose from the dead due to an eclipse combined with a conjunction of the planets perhaps PIA ?

  314. dime (4,320) Says:

is it true? the MP i hate the most is out? carmel sepuloni??

  315. Shunda barunda (2,079) Says:

Well Shunda all I can say is that she is a far better looking leaders Spouse than the last one’s was!

Yes, that chap was a bit “LAX” :)

  316. Fox (78) Says:

I’m guessing a large proportion of the 35% that didn’t vote reside across the Tasman and couldn’t be bothered.
And lets be honest; who can blame them?

  317. dime (4,320) Says:

Conservatives – 2.5%. The right need to do something with that. give Craig a seat he can win.

  318. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

    Epsom? dime. :)

  319. MikeMan (150) Says:

Dime, Paula is 349 ahead with specials to count.

  320. oranjemakker (60) Says:

Random but kind of interesting stat, in all but Maori seats but Te Tai Tonga NZ First won more party votes than national.

  321. Put it away (2,833) Says:

Fox – true. I see that as a good thing too, if people who aren’t engaged in NZ politics and have no stake in what happens here don’t vote here.

  322. dime (4,320) Says:

    Paula will retain with specials.

SO that means that slob is gone? She wont make it on the list??

  323. dime (4,320) Says:

johnboy – no lol they is a gorup of people that will vote conservative. its a shame we lost 2.5% of their votes.

  324. adze (1,323) Says:

According to the chart TV one showed earlier in the evening, Sepuloni is well down the list, outside the party vote.

  325. dime (4,320) Says:

Glorious! ever since she acted like a naughty kid when lockwood told her off she has been on my shit list!

apart from winning, my highlight of the day – getting into the booth and seeing that i could vote for the don instead of maggie barry! stoked!

  326. oranjemakker (60) Says:

This is listed in the bio of Mojo Mathers, 14 on the Green list, who could get in on specials. at this link http://www.greens.org.nz/candidates/mojo-mathers

“I strive to reduce my personal impact on the environment by being vegetarian, supporting GE free, non-toxic, organic, fair trade and local, using public transport, keeping myself informed and getting involved. I have a strong work ethic and am very accessible by email.”

“I am very accessible by email”, that is such a pointless thing to say

  327. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

True dime. Perhaps national should stand an Archbishop next time to get as much of the conservative vote as possible.

  328. dime (4,320) Says:

Winny getting 6.8% – the polls were wrong because they didnt count on such a low voter turn out. 65%? thats low.

    and old fucks vote.

  329. dime (4,320) Says:

JB – preferably one not attracted to boys.

Banks – make him “minister of brown len”. id love to see him as lens boss

  330. dime (4,320) Says:

The Maori party is all but dead. Once the two leaders retire they are screwed! ending the overhang. good shit. bugs me national work with them cause they would abandon national first chance.

Greens – id prefer national didnt work with them. National should do some good enviromental stuff on their own. the greens can vote out in but dont let them have any leadership or credit. they hate us. they owuldnt give us anything.

  331. Fox (78) Says:

“preferably one not attracted to boys”

Setting the bar a bit high there aren’t we? :D

  332. pollywog (901) Says:

“I am very accessible by email”, that is such a pointless thing to say

I think thats a joke as she’s deaf.

  333. Someone Else (140) Says:

I wonder how the many events around the country (such as the Lake Taupo Challenge) and the first weekend in ages with decent weather affected the low turnout? Most probably apathy more than anything else.

Another thing… I just looked at how narrowly National hold the 60th MP. If the Greens pick up another MP it will be National losing one MP. Wouldn’t want to be Nat MP #60.

  334. XChequer (339) Says:

    Oh well…….we won…..they lost……….nuff said.

    G’nite Johnboy

  335. Nookin (1,827) Says:

Well, I’ve have my ginger beer and I’m off to bed. I can’t help thinking, tho, the Key and the nats have got to develope a game breaker in the next 18 months.

They need to limit asset sales so that there cannot be any overseas ownership and they have to do that early to prove that it works.

Key has been on the back foot till now — recession, earthquakes etc. He may be a steady as you go type of guy but that is not going to get him a third term. We need some action pdq. RMA reform is a definite. The experts have taken over and it is growth industry. There should be much stricter file management than is presently the case – esp early mediation.

Job creation will be the biggest hurdle because the government doesn’t create jobs.

    Good luck to them all.

10 -1 there will be a photo of Williams pissing up a tree between now and 5.00am while texting to Len Brown.

  336. Nick K (253) Says:

I’m just waiting for another pathetic wet comment about Bronagh. You guys need to shake yourselves. You’re completely pathetic.

  337. Lindsay Addie (1,003) Says:

McGarten was all bitter and twisted on TVNZ. What a sore loser.

On another matter, never thought I’d live to see the day that my electorate Chch Central would become the most marginal seat in the country.

  338. pollywog (901) Says:

    Living the dream

Congratulations people, you bought the aspirational middle class dream Key was selling. You didn’t
want the reality Goff was selling and why would you ?

The reality is high unemployment, no jobs, stagnant wages, rising cost of living, NZ’s best and brightest leaving NZ in record numbers, an aging population reliant on welfare, an angry youthful
demographic also reliant on welfare, a property investment boil that needs lancing and a wealth
disparity chasm that will only widen with asset sales.

I mean, who in their right mind wants to face that reality ?…and buy into it, let alone deal with it, when you can live the dream of aspirational middle classiness. You too can come from living in a state house to make a fortune then become Prime Minister. Thats the shit people want to buy into and the shit Key was selling.

And man did we buy it, hook, line and sinker, cos like i said on Dim Post, everyone thinks they’re middle class these days. There is no working class anymore, only the underclass, consisting of the working poor and the unemployed. But no one’s going to admit to being underclass. That’s the fucking nightmare class you read about on the news, committing violent crime, breeding for business and living of charity.

Sure, you may be jobless and poor or scraping to get by, but your parents weren’t and they were middles class so you are too eh ? You just have to keep believing, have faith that Key can keep your dream alive. I mean, you’re a real life wannabe kiwi mum and dad whose better times are just around the corner.

But you know the only trouble with living the dream is, sooner or later you wake up and have to face reality, either by your own choice or by neccessity of someone forcing you to. And don’t you just hate it when the realization dawns on you that the dream you thought you were living was only happening in your mind and for all that time you were just asleep.

sleep tight NZ, don’t let reality bite…Vampires are real !!!

    G’nite

At least something approximately resembling it, after all that expense.

  340. oranjemakker (60) Says:

wow. I didnt know that and certainly was not making fun on her deafness, so I apologize for that comment. the rest of her bio is classic green nonsense though. read some of the others on the same site. total fringe, cant believe they get such a high percentage of the vote. if you read their bios they are less representative of NZ than even the NZ First nonentities.

  341. mike tan (236) Says:

Yes pollywog, 50% of NZ is deluded and stupid… keep telling yourself that you are the all knowing, wise one :S

Whatever helps you sleep at night mate

  342. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

Gee. What a sad little life you lead pollywog.

  346. Nookin (1,827) Says:

Must be a real bastard to find that 74% of the country disagree with you

  347. Johnboy (7,905) Says:

    Night all. :)

  348. BlairM (1,666) Says:

Oh ACT supporters… do tell me how much you love John Banks! Do tell me how he is your new saviour! How does that rat taste? Is it YUMMY?! MMMMM!!!! I do like a good rat for breakfast! Om nom nom nom!!!!!!

  349. SHG (189) Says:

    @pollywog:

sleep tight NZ, don’t let reality bite…Vampires are real !!!

Too right, one of them just got 6.8%.

  350. ozkiwi(1) Says:

Who is last nat list mp to get in?

  351. Put it away (2,833) Says:

mike tan – he will keep repeating to himself “we are the party of the people” trying to convince himself, even though vastly more of “the people” supported the nats. Still it’s not quite as bad as the Mana loons who ( I’m sure) will continue to claim to represent the “99%” after getting a party vote of 1 %.

  352. Put it away (2,833) Says:

Oh look, Pollywog is back under his original name. Did your Tanned Taiwanese sock puppet get demerited off?

  353. NX (591) Says:

    The Good:
    National increasing it’s vote.
John Key is the Prime Minister
Another nail in the coffin of Helen Clark’s legacy.

    The Bad:
Brash didn’t make it back to parliament – whether you like him or not he’s a clever economist.
National didn’t achieve 50% of the vote.

    The Ugly:
The return of Winston Peters. On a salary of $200k for three years + perks = around 1 million bucks. For what… to waste parliament’s time. FFS :(

  354. emmess (1,001) Says:

Good result but I’d just like to say Colin Craig is a dickhead, that wasted 2.8% cost National a majority and quite possibly could of meant of left wing coalition of losers.
    I hope he is happy.

  355. Anthony (493) Says:

Unfortunately many Act voters lost their nerve and thought Banks wouldn’t win Epsom. I held mine and made a bit on iPredict. How many journos will admit they got it wrong?

  362. hj (2,231) Says:

Immigration and tax breaks for investment in residential property are being cited as the underlying causes of steep increases in the cost of housing over the past decade.

New Zealand now boasts one of the highest rates of home unaffordability in the world as a result of prices rising far faster than incomes, and the government’s Savings Working Group blames that squarely on the policies of successive governments.

Although “the favourable tax treatment of property investment” accounted for about 50% of house price increases between 2001 and 2007, the working group said, there was also strong evidence that rapid swings in immigration brought about price-rise “shocks”.

There was a sharp spike in immigration in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and, said working group committee member Dr Andrew Coleman, it appeared that property prices did not fall anywhere near as greatly when immigration fell again.

The report added that there was little evidence that immigration boosted local incomes. In fact, the need to build roads and schools meant that net migration contributed to the national deficit.

  371. OECD rank 22 kiwi (2,539) Says:

So when do you think the financial default is going to hit New Zealand? 2012 or 2013?

  372. BlueDevil (90) Says:

    Winnie for Speaker.
Make the longest serving poacher the gamekeeper.
At least he would have to turn up to work each sitting day.

  373. niggly (538) Says:

If I put aside me having a wee issue with people that could be considered “corrupt” getting their hands on some institutional levers of power …..

He would be entertaining in that role, I suppose! And may relish acting out like some old fashioned headmaster keeping the young’uns in check. Hell, one day when he’s had a good day of it keeping the MP’s in line, perhaps as the MP’s retire that trade-mark grin will come out again, swooning the heart’s of grannies all around the nation once again, and starts crooning “My Way”. Mind you not sure how he would actually keep up with being fully alert day-after-day after the regular late-night “dinners” at his favorite haunts resume again, but luckily Parliament control the cameras during the daytime and well the rest of the MSM will be hanging out for scraps of entertaining morsels and gossip with him anyways, in fact the boy reporters at TV3 can only rub their hands in glee in what delightful mischief lies ahead for them. ;-)

  374. big bruv (10,199) Says:

Does anybody know who the list MP’s are who have lost their seats?

I love the idea that the toxic Sepaloni and the union hack Beaumont are unemployed, now I want to know who has joined them.

Oh…and if you really want a laugh go and wind up the pinko’s over at the standard, they are just about suicidal.

  375. BlueDevil (90) Says:

My suggesting was mainly in jest but the thought of Peters having to rule on point of orders rather than making them has a certain wicked pleasure. There is also the problem that National may have that if they appoint a speaker from their ranks this may reduce their majority to a minority (as the speaker doesn’t vote).

  376. NX (591) Says:

How much more party vote would ACT have needed for Don Brash to be elected to parliament…?
